In some remote villages in Uganda, if the mother dies in childbirth, infants are often abandoned in local hospitals and clinics, and sometimes in grave yards, forests, pit latrines, or open markets, to die, if the family does not claim them.

In partnership with Malawi certified social workers, WeRemnant created an infant rescue and foster care program. The program provides each infant with food, clothing, and basic supplies. We also provide a monthly supply of food for the foster family for as long as the infant is in their care.

As the infants grow into toddlers and young children, we work with the community to send them to school. Thus far, we have 20 rescued infants in our program.
